Professional Psychotherapy
Registration for Regression Therapists
Legislation
is currently going through Parliament to control the experience
and qualification required for all complimentary therapists
wanting to practice in the U/K. The timing and implications
of this are still fluid, but it seem to be driven by a European
wide move to bring complimentary therapy under some common
level of regulation. The established major accrediting organisations
are actively working with the Government, and in the area
of psychotherapy the largest and most influential group
is the UKCP (United Kingdom Council of Psychotherapy).
For
graduates of Regression therapy the only recognised umbrella
training organisations that can provide UKCP registration
and allow training in Regression Therapy to be counted towards
registration are the Humanistic and Transpersonal organisations.
Both give flexibility for you to accumulated additional
training of your choice in getting to registration. Below
are the details for you to plan your own route. I suggest
you ensure you get written confirmation of all training
and supervision done todate and in the future even if are
unsure of what to do. Look carefully at the level of supervision
required and the areas of other preferred training required
as well as the more obvious total training requirements.
I've given contact details of the organisations if you need
more information.
Marina
Murphy is looking at the requirements for regression training
to be an accredited as a separate organisation in its own
right based on the experiences of NLP therapists. However
this requires a lot of time and effort as well as the desire
of the training organisation (Roger) to implement this.
At our network meeting we decided to recommend to graduates
to use one of the existing umbrella organisation because
they provide an existing proven route for U.K.C.P. registration.
Good luck for your future. The amount of training and supervision
may seem large but remember the journey is often more important
than the destination.
