ANN MERIVALE, B.A., Dip.PLR Shanti Shalom, 34 Vashon Close, Ludlow, SY8 1XG Tel. 01584 879740 REGRESSION THERAPY The aim of Regression therapy is to relieve SYMPTOMS (phobias, fears, physical or emotional problems ) by getting to their root cause, stored in the subconscious. Often these root causes are found in what appears to be a previous life, but belief in reincarnation is by no means essential in order for the therapy to be effective. In regression clients frequently find explanations for problems that had been baffling them, and understanding can be the first key to a solution. Normally, however, it is only when a traumatic experience has been relived that it is possible to let go of it and move on, and this requires sympathetic and skilled handling on the part of the therapist. It is important to appreciate that the individual's subconscious is always in control, and that it will never bring up anything which you are not yet ready to deal with. Visual images, which come readily to some but not at all to others, are not essential for the therapy to be effective. People vary immensely in the ease with which they get to the key issue, so there are no rules as to how many sessions are likely to be desirable. Ann does not use hypnotherapy. She has trained with Dr. Roger Woolger, a Jungian psychotherapist and the author of Other Lives, Other Selves, widely recognised as the best book on Regression Therapy. A regression session lasts approximately two hours. Everyone being unique, no two regression sessions are ever similar. Some people may appear to be better subjects than others, but whatever happens will be write for YOU, and it is vital to trust whatever comes. The subconscious knows its owner's needs better than can the therapist, and whatever surfaces will be for a REASON. How quickly this reason will become clear is again quite unpredictable.
A symptom such as CLAUSTROPHOBIA. The root of this might well be found, for instance, in a lifetime in which you had suffered something such as imprisonment. BEING OVERWEIGHT is often caused by a lifetime in which someone had suffered starvation. Subconscious fear of a repetition may cause an exaggerated need for food, and this could be overcome by seeing that it no longer applies to the present life. The same can be true for ASTHMA, which often has its root in a previous life in which, for instance, one was gassed. DIFFICULTY IN A RELATIONSHIP Throughout our lives we often get trapped in repeated patterns. You might, for instance, be attracted over and over to the same partner, who always abuses you. Regression Therapy can also alleviate IRRATIONAL FEARS (of heights, spiders, snakes .), UNEXPLAINED PAINS, ANGER or JEALOUSY. And, perhaps most important of all, it can help in self-knowledge. ****** Here are some other examples of things that might take place in a regression session:- You might discover some TALENT that you had in a previous life. Such a discovery can often be useful for choosing a career in one's present life. You might have an encounter with one or more of your SPIRIT GUIDES (of whom most of us normally have two or three). Making their acquaintance is both pleasant and interesting, and their advice is invariably useful! You might get taken back to the time before your conception, discover the LIFE PLAN that you made, the LESSONS that you decided you needed to learn, and thus be able to see to what extent you have kept to your Plan. You might recognise someone close to you in your present life and find out how the present relationship is affected by the past. Ann's book
